Clearly the upload system hates me tonight.

Okay, here we go. These examples are not full size (they’re at 20% so the upload system will let me attach them) but hopefully they can show how an old reskin will have issues compared to the new layout of the default sprite. Now I’m not sure which class you’re currently working with but I see a Graverobber portrait in your image so it could be her. What you need to do is to compare your image to the new default one for the class you’re working with then basically change yours to match it. Now this isn’t as hard as it sounds since you can basically copy & paste onto a new layer, move things, rotate them and resize them then simply delete the new layer underneath (or delete part of it).

That’s the easiest way that I can explain it as the layout of the image varies from class to class. I hope I’ve been able to help.

Alright, so I tested it again and had gotten the bright flashing light as result. I will place the sprites on here, because idk if you meant the one that is on its side, or the one set up vertically.

Edit: Yeah I get what you mean from the attachments.

Hmm. Well your layout looks mostly correct. I suggest you keep fiddling with it (make small adjustments) ’til it works. I hope it gets sorted soon as she looks like a nice little colour variant.

Another thing is that this happens to affliction/virtuous sprites that belong to any kind of custom skin. I am still curious on what causes this.

It doesn’t happen with all of them. It only occurs with the older reskins that have not been updated. The newer ones (that date after the default files being changed) tend to work just fine.

The cause is to do with the skeleton files that the game uses to make all the parts of the image appear in the correct place. If any part of the image is slightly out of place then it can corrupt in game and look very wrong indeed. Let’s take an example (please see attached image). Here the bit of something wrong sticking through her hood is part of one of her legs. Weird but true.

She’s not finished yet so she hasn’t been released.

Hhhrm. Haven’t made much of a start on the combat & walk poses (partial work done but nothing safe to show yet).

There’s a few issues with the standing pose. We need to add some black to the back of the torso so there won’t be a hole in the cloak. In the attached image that colour section behind her hip is the background wall. I can probably copy the sword, boots & legs into the walking and combat pose. The walking pose is almost identical to the idle one but with the components ever so slightly offset in different directions. It should be possible to get it to work ‘though.

Incidentally I managed to get the Arbalest’s face (from the fringed reskin) and the Bounty Hunter’s helmet onto your female Man-at-Arms reskin. I probably need to remove the spike from the helmet as it clips with the floor shadow in the combat animation. Also something’s clipping into the shield’s space and causing a black line that moves up and down with it around chin level in the same animation. All others are problem free so far.

Sorry I haven’t been on much lately, I have been busy trying to see if i could get a certain type of program that could make things easier for me (in terms of being able to make changes and seeing feedback immediately). Anyway that’s what I have been up to for a while now. I kept looking but couldn’t find one. A certain programmer I came across recently however created a mini app that helps me do that. So now with that taking care of, expect some artwork soon.

To avoid white boxes I save my files as PSD, then open them in GIMP and export them to where I want them as png files.

For me superpng does not work with my Photoshop, but it may work with yours.

When I first started modding – I sometimes got those types of white boxes if the image was either a) not the correct size when saved (your files must be the same size as the default files), or b) the name within the file was not labelled properly, or c) fiddled with the string name of a file (bad bad bad).

Hope something there helps.

Oh it’s horrible. It’s something to do with the file saving format. Every time I want to test a sprite I have to jump through hoops to make sure it’s saved correctly otherwise it’ll look wrong in game.

Diablo-ish classes for DD

Doing a new set of classes – this will be a group of clases that I will post together once finished.

I had planned to give up doing classes for a while – but alas, I just can’t stop.

These classes will be done in the style of Diablo 2-3 classes. The classes that I am working on are listed below. I have attached art for a few.

I am not looking for feedback on the art, just skill/role suggestions.

Classes will include:

Demon Hunter (Female)
Witch Doctor (Male)
Monk (Spirit Monk based on my old class – I am not rewriting all of my scripts for that difference) (Female)
Barbarian (Male)
Necromancer (Male)
Amazon (Female)
Sorceress (Female)

Druid, Assassin, Crusader, and Paladin are all already vanilla/custom classes available.

I think there was a non commercial one (for private use) available for roughly £60 ($90) but I could be mistaken.

If I remember correctly, people who tried the cheaper version early on could not complete mods. It is somewhere in the history of the forums. Plus I could be mistaken.

I really would not be surprised by that.

I think that may be the problem with my images, I just don’t know how to do superPNG

Interestingly enough I know how but it doesn’t always work. Hang on….

Scopriodaven explained it better than I can.

It works most of the time (but not always). Funnily enough, to check things out I made a few small changes to a default heroic image (backing up the original, of course). I took all the steps to save it correctly. Everything was laid out correctly. The dimensions were correct and it still did the spinning spiralling thing at me. Crazy.

Updating older mods

Hello, I have come back to working on some of my older mods to update them to the newest release. However I have no idea what changed in my Classes that makes them not work or where i should start to get them updated.

Any information on the changes to how older mods work? (mine were all made in the release right before the Antiquarian) or what i need to do to get them working again?

I think that the easiest way to see what’s wrong with your class mods is to download another class mod which works with the newest version and compare the files from that class with yours.
