The plan is to do a Leper reskin first then build a Twilight Knight class later on (using the Leper reskin). That’s mostly because doing a reskin is easier than doing an entire class so why not do the reskin first for people who want to use it?

Launch the game and [Esc] -> Options -> Other -> Debug Output. It enables brief debug messages to be shown in bottom-right of the screen/window.

But I’m not sure it’s what you want, as I’ve seen my testing mod crashing the game without a message.

Thanks! I believe that is exactly what I am looking for. It can pinpoint non-crash issues – which may become crashes later. Some issues only cause crashing at certain points.

I ended up doing a clean install last night. And I am going to re-integrate my mods. I am pretty sure I figured out the issue (Musketeer skin and/or skills). As my crashing issues only seemed to appear when using the Musketeer or one of my classes that are a variant of said skin.

At least with the debug mode on I can see if issues appear as I add each class mod.

Current class mods/variants:
Shadow-Dancer, Maiden, Knight, Dame, Evoker, Warlock, Apothecary, Psionic, Treasure Hunter, Gladiator, Blackguard, Valkyrie, Shadow Valkyrie, Vampiress, Lycan, Court Magus, Songstress.

Version 1.4a (after some time as v1.4) is up with some changes.

– Yet another bunch of Trinket/Skill changes.
– Some fixes to Monsters’ Skill Chances.
– Now all of the 8 dungeon-specific bosses become more challenging at higher levels. Maybe I have to tweak their difficulties later.

Sorry I haven’t been on lately, been a bit busy. Anyway not sure about that. We might just have to go ahead and create the class considering that creating the class is just an extended re skin. By the way, you haven’t said anything about the last images I sent you. Did the belt work?

Mhmmmm, interesting, Not sure if it might have something to do on my side. Anyway something odd that happens in most drawing software is that copying something with a transparent background that was not made in that software produces a black background. I have another drawing software beside Gimp and copying something from that with a transparent background into Gimp produces a black background. A way to get around it is to first download the image with the transparent background then open it with the software you want. This works for me.

I am all for going with the new class route. As soon as I figure how the art could work, it will be easier to creating the other arts.

She’s back! With a vengeance!

Due to several requests, and my own personal preference, I have brought back what was once my Dame class. Now she has been reformatted into a Paladin. With a new set of skills – with some similarity still to the Crusader – she is ready to take on the Darkest Dungeon once again. Skill wise she is tailored after the DnD Paladin Class, and can act as a suitable substitute for the Crusader – sharing the same HP and Damage growth.

She is fully tested and should work fine. Let me know if anything does pop up though.

Skills:

Strike of Light – Attack on enemy, Unholy Killer

Cleansing Strike – Attack 2 enemies, Unholy Killer, Stun

Searing Light – Ranged attack to 1 enemy, “Vestal Weakening Curse 1” “Unholy Killer 1”

Smite Evil – Attack 1 enemy, Daamge Bonus, “Hellion Exhaust” “Unholy Killer 1”

Lay on Hands – Heal Ally, Medium Heal

Aura of Good – Buff All Allies, Command.

Divine Strength – Buff self, “Adrenaline 1” “HellionHealSelf 1”

She is considered Heavy and Religous. Hope you enjoy adding her to your team 🙂

There’s no time to rest! Evil must be struck down!

Hmm. I’d be tempted to reduce the healing gained from Lay On hands but have it remove debuffs (but not conditions such as blight or bleed). A different kind of supportive keeping in line with her protective nature.

I might do that. Concept wise, I am trying to stay close to the DnD Paladin though.

Now to think about what class to do next… I have been playing a lot of Diablo 3 lately… so maybe a Demon Hunter and a Witch Doctor lol.

Which class to make next – Gladiator, Demon Hunter, or Exorcist?

Which class to make next?

Anyone have a preference?

Gladiator?
-He will be a combination of Crusader and Cultist Brawler art.

Demon Hunter?
-She is styled after the Diablo Demon Hunter and will use the Highwayman as a base.

Exorcist?
-He will use the Plague Doctor/Dark Ages skin made by jtjd on the Nexus. Going to go with a darker colored beard though as my current one is out of place. And trying to decide what to put in his other hand. Cross will be changed to silver.

The Exorcist would be the easier to complete, whereas the other two will take a bit of work to put together (in particular the walk/idle/combat anims).

As you might have guessed, I find designing females a lot easier, lol. Any suggestion on which one to do next?

I’m a little confused. What do you mean by download the image? I always open images from my hard drive if I’m going to work on them.

Thought you said you copy and paste them. An example of what I mean is that, let’s say you have an image with a transparent background online. If you copy and paste it directly from the internet to a drawing software, it will have a black background. A way to get around it is to save the image then open that image with the software you want to use. This also applies with copying and pasting from one software or format to another.

Oh hell no. I don’t do that. With a picture on the internet I always right click and click save as. Of course with dropbox I create a copy in the non dropbox work in progress folder so I don’t accidentally overwrite the one in the dropbox folder. I’m going to experiment with opening it from the dropbox folder and saving elsewhere instead of copying the file but I doubt it’s going to help much as this problem only persists with a few custom sprites (I notice that it even happened to one of mine despite my not doing anything different in how I saved it).

The helmetless visor on the gladiator looks odd. It makes him look a bit like a lunatic or an extra from a Mad Max movie. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to attach to anything. There’s something strange about the shape of his torso that doesn’t look right for the position of his raised arm. I’m not sure he’s the one to go for.

The Demon Huntress kind of works. Do you plan on replacing the pistol with a mini crossbow pistol? In terms of skills I think you should focus more on the Gravedigger’s knife throwing skills (the scatter shot that hits the middle two ranks an the single knife throw) along with her doge and mobility buffs more than on the Highwayman’s more aggressive skill set.

Dark Ages plague doctor. What about this artwork is supposed to say Dark Ages? I’m honestly baffled (with the original mod as well). Did the modder mistake the Black Death with the Dark Ages period? Black Death is medieval and medieval comes after the Dark Ages. Especially the plague years which come a good few centuries later. Setting that aside his head is massive. I’ve noticed that in a few of your more recent mods the heads have become a bit larger. This one just stands out as being very large and rather square looking. To me he doesn’t feel just right yet but he could work.

For a while now I’ve pondered how much work would go into reskinning the antiquarian as a damsel in distress. I imagine if she was dressed up in bulky garments with lots of layering it wouldn’t be too difficult. Change the headscarf into hair (actually she could be wearing a liripipe or something similar). Make a few other tweaks etc. I should probably take a look at her files and see how flexible she is.

Yeah. I was thinking more along the lines of the Pathfinder paladin where it’s less about raw health restoral and more about condition removal (a la the plague doctor’s form of healing).

That method actually works (somehow). Strange but it works. Judging by the alignment I think I’ll need to adjust the positioning of some components. Also we can just leave the face space blank and draw it inside the hood. There’ll be a lot less clipping with the throat and hair if we just keep it static inside the hood instead.

Okay, I checked. It works (no black background) but the exporting nonsense I usually have to go through still isn’t fixing the whiteboxing problem (and I’ve never ahd this problem with other files). I’m probably going to have to do it all slowly, piece by piece, which is just … Oh well :(.

At this rate you might have to start looking into the abilities and other things while you push things relating to the art aside for a bit. I can try to see if I can come up with good solutions for them.

Well I suppose, looking at this realistically, the summer holidays will be over soon and you’re probably going to be heading off back to college or university when term starts, right? I imagine that when that happens you’ll have a lot less free time to help out with this. I should probably start trying to wrap my head around that coding soon. Something I know even less about than art itself but I’ll give it a go. Scorpiodaven offered to help out with some of the initial scripting (just setting up the files so I could fiddle with them) but I haven’t heard much back on that front yet. I should probably drop him a line and check what he needs from me to help make things easier for all of us.

Nope, I am actually already done with college however I am looking for a job. So getting a job would be the only thing that will take my time away from it.
