There’s plenty of ways to help, but the most useful thing to me right now would absolutely be messing with the skins to give these classes a unique look. There’s a lot to be done (and to be learned) about the animations and fx and SKEL files etc. but just getting some unique skins to make the characters look a bit different than their vanilla equivalents would be a huuuuuge improvement.
The other thing that’d be really useful (and easy, I imagine) is going over the ability icons. For instance, the Brood Mistress currently uses icons that look just like the Grave Robber’s. It’d be great to match them with icons that reflected the abilities in some way.
If you want to help with class design I’d absolutely appreciate that too. Right now the only design parameters are:
1. Each faction should be composed of ~5 classes.
2. Each faction should be capable of self-sufficiency, with at least one healer, one frontline, one ranged etc.
3. Aim for thematic consistency in the classes within a faction, as well as their ability sets. Make them “feel” like they belong together.
4. Try to keep your design space as small as possible to facilitate many factions!
The first faction I’m working on is going under the tag “Draconic”. It is thematically centered around a dragon cult with fire and slaves and sacrifice. There is a heavy emphasis on bleed, bleed debuff, and bleed killer, a moderate amount of stun, and zero blight abilities. Classes tend to have high bleed resist and low blight resist. There is very low mobility, with most of the classes having strongly preferred positions and few movement abilities. And there is a theme of strong abilities which inflict stuns on friendly targets as their cost.
Just to give you an idea of what I have in mind
