Dont know about heroes, but I don’t think AoE guard its a solution. Monsters can’t protect multiple targets using the simple method at least (.target @~1234), even with modifiers like:
.apply_once false
.self_target_valid False

you can always give them a: .number_of_turns_per_round 3 with a different guard attack for each allied row and custom monster AI that makes him do the effect first turn 100% and have a really big CD.
