The Idle Sprite is almost there now. I need to reposition the torso down slightly and to the left (without losing the belts off the bottom of the sprite’s boundaries). I appear to have got the waist portion nicely lined up with the legs. Now I need to get the body to match (previously the body & the legs were lined up quite nicely but the waist was off to the side a bit).
I believe I know what was causing the Ghost Mask. On my work in progress file I must have added in the original Leper’s Idle sprite as a background layer and turned it invisible without removing it. When I realised I removed that layer but didn’t think to simply remove the animated face portion and use the one within the hood. I spent quite some time trying to get it to line up when I decided to just delete it and see if the ghost mask would fail to manifest. It failed to manifest so now there’s no worries about getting the hair to line up perfectly on both sides while it animated. The face might bob up and down a bit less within the hood but there’s a lot less pixel hunting involved for me :). I’ve left the left arm in it’s original form because there are afew problems with the arm and the glove.
So I’ve included a quick jpg of the arms portion of the idle sprite. As you can see I’ve updated the right arm parts and it’s totally fine. When it comes to the left arm we have a problem The left arm is longer (it goes under the glove). The glove is a bit too short for the current glove style (although the right glove is perfect for it). I’ve tried putting the hand on the glove and removing the rest of the glove to place the longer gauntlet part onto the arm. Unfortunately, when the sprite animates, the glove layer goes on top of the arm layer and, instead of seeing the glove on the arm part (through the gap in the hand part), I see a gap in the arm (because the missing glove part is covering it). I’ve tried adding part of it to the hand and part to the arm and couldn’t quite get it to line up. I should probably try that again.
I’m going to fiddle with it a bit more and see if I can get it to work because I’m quite fond of the design that we’ve got. At this point it does not surprise me that “that other female Leper reskin” did not change the gloves or arms. I’m going to take a look at the Barbarian Leper Reskin because that one did change the gloves and arms a bit. I’m going to see what the modder was able to do with the animated sprite as their design, while quite similar, has subtle differences.
For some reason the Barbarian Leper arms has decided to paste in with a black background but I’m going to take some time to compare the two and see what little tweaks I can get away with that might allow the current glove design to work.
