Can trinkets have descriptions?

Hello all,

Got the game recently, enjoyed it for a dozen hours, saw it was modable, got an incurable glint in my eye and the rest is history. Anyhow, enough introductions.

What it says on the tin, (or rather, what I can’t get it to say on the tin!)

I’ve been tinkering with trinkets to get my seaman’s legs modding the game, and I thought adding a description for custom trinkets might be an interesting idea.

Quest items and some other types of inventory items have a description which can be edited from the localization files. I tried adding one to a trinket just by copy-pasting a description for one of the default trinkets (archer’s ring, since I had one on my characters so that I could test it all fast-like) and editing the line for the appropriate parts. I ran the localization executable too, and did tests altering the name of the trinket a bit as well to make sure the file itself was loading correctly, which it was.

This is how the description works for regular inventory items:

Red like blazing lust.

This is the most straightforward edit I tried, without success:

TEST CUSTOM DESCRIPTION

I could not find code elsewhere that would tell the game to look for a description for an item which is worrying for this prospect.

One workaround could be making every item with a description its own set, but that would not mesh well with the existing sets at all, which I find dissatisfying.

Another possibility would of course be just adding the description after the trinket’s title, does anyone know how (and if) the game does line breaks for titles to achieve this consistently?

Thanks for any answers, I’ll be tinkering away and report back if I have any success myself! Even in the worst case I’ll have a stack of custom trinkets I’ll look into getting available at some point.
